Revamp

If you're just finding my website for the first time, hello! My name is Jack. I'm a 26-year-old from Connecticut who has been obsessed with film for as long as I can remember.

I started this page as a place to posts reviews about new releases for family, friends, and anyone else interested in reading what I had to say. One of my greatest accomplishments was seeing and writing a detailed review on everything that came to the silver screen during the summer of 2022.

While I definitely enjoyed that process, it became impossible to keep up with once my full-time job as a teacher was added into the mix. I simply didn't have enough free time to go to the movie theater multiple times each week or produce critiques in the quality that I thought was necessary.

Since coming to this realization, my Letterboxd has been growing as usual and there has been a hiatus of sorts when it comes to website content. Giving a number of stars that reflects my viewing experience to a film satisfying in a way, but I miss the days of having a chance to say more.

I'd been thinking about how to make this website work going forward when I stumbled across something interesting in a book called Ready Player One by Ernest Cline.

(Yes, I read too. Although I prefer using a Kindle, which is a controversial. Apparently the smell and feel of the pages is way too important to some people! Direct any questions to my cousin.)

In the story, a character named Art3mis makes posts on her blog centered around her experiences with various bits of pop culture. At the point in the book where this comes up, she had just uploaded something about her six favorite old John Hughes films. These are rambling essays with self-deprecating humor, witty remarks, and sardonic asides that lots of people read.

Something finally clicked for me after finding this passage. This place doesn't need to have an upload schedule or predefined specifications for what will be discussed. I can make an impact in whatever way I want. From here on out, things are going to be much looser and interesting.

Thanks for reading about the coming changes! I hope you find it entertaining or something.
